Moving to VoIP
Finally I got a answer from my ISP about why I can't port my existing PSTN line number to my VoIP provider, it would appear that Eircom my telco provider uses the number as a line identifier and although Comreg (Irish Telco Regulator) have demanded they change their system Eircom has decided to take Comreg to court on that matter.
Anyway because of this I'm going to get my ISP to unbundle my line anyway (this will leave my current PSTN line number in limbo) and I'm going to go with the phone number my VoIP provider has assigned me.
This evening I invested in a POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) to VoIP phone adaptor that will allow me to connect a standard POTS phone to my router which will then connect to my VoIP provider.
I guess I'll see how things go from here....
